Inclusive landscapes for specialist housing in Bristol

Landsmith Associates is delighted to be providing landscape architecture services for three specialist housing projects in Bristol, working with One50Studio for Bristol City Council and Cornerstone Partnership for three micro sites Jubilee Hall, Newland Road and Summerhill Centre.

Our work focuses on creating inclusive and accessible external environments, integrating planting, green infrastructure, biodiversity and sustainable drainage as part of the wider design process.

The projects include the refurbishment and extension of Jubilee Hall to provide specialist shared accommodation, alongside new independent living accommodation at Newland Road and Summerhill. Across all three sites, landscape design is being developed as an integral part of creating safe, accessible and welcoming environments that support residents’ wellbeing and everyday use.   

Working through RIBA Stage 3 and full planning application, our landscape input brings together inclusive access and movement, usable outdoor inlcusive spaces, planting and green infrastructure, biodiversity and SuDS. Each scheme responds to its particular urban context, including level changes, existing trees and vegetation, privacy, overlooking and constrained site conditions.

Working collaboratively with the wider design team, the three projects demonstrate how landscape can support accessibility, wellbeing and environmental performance from the outset, while creating practical and attractive outdoor spaces for residents.
