Landsmith Associates has been appointed to work with Nash Partnership and David Hawes to prepare a strategic Design Code spanning the three authority areas; Pathfinder Design Code for Tewkesbury Borough, Cheltenham Borough and Gloucester City Councils. The Code will set clear expectations for how places are planned, connected and delivered, with a focus on healthier, greener and more resilient communities.
Why it matters
-
Raise design quality across new development.
-
Embed green infrastructure and nature recovery.
-
Support climate action and resilience.
-
Ensure community voices shape outcomes.
-
Ground decisions in evidence and local character.
Our role
Working alongside Nash Partnership and David Hawes, we bring expertise in landscape strategy, green infrastructure and nature-positive design. Our contribution focuses on mapping, visualisation and integrating environmental standards and targets to ensure the Design Code is ambitious, measurable and practical.
The Code will create measurable targets linked to Natural England’s Green Infrastructure Standards and Building with Nature.
Looking ahead
The Pathfinder Design Code is an opportunity to influence development at scale across the Strategic & Local Plan area, balancing the need for homes and jobs with climate resilience, biodiversity and wellbeing.
