Redcliffe and Temple BID - Green Infrastructure Action Plan

"Developing the city’s green spaces is a focus for Redcliffe & Temple BID and this GIAP is a key step in creating quality green spaces, improving sustainability in the city, and building a safe community. The insight and involvement from local businesses have been invaluable and we want to encourage participation and support as the projects roll out over the coming months and years..”

Redcliffe and Temple BID - Green Infrastructure Action Plan

Redcliffe and Temple BID aim to improve and create a thriving, sustainable area in Bristol. They approached Landsmith Associates to develop action-oriented solutions and involve stakeholders through a 'bottom-up' process.

Landsmith Associates conducted a desktop study and identified four key themes: Cities in Nature, Cooling Cities, Creating Social Spaces, and Designing Spaces with Women. They designed and led a stakeholder engagement process, which included workshops, exploratory walks, and an online survey. More than 60 people actively participated in the engagement sessions, and their input helped define short, medium, and long-term actions and proposals.

The process involved a pragmatic decision-making approach based on six key questions. Before publishing the Green Infrastructure Action Plan (GIAP), the client acted on six outcomes and initiated the implementation of mechanisms for other actions.

In the February 2023 update to the GIAP, Landsmith Associates included a site appraisal and proposed plan, a strategy for creating cooler spaces, detailed precedent images, and an exploration of funding opportunities.
