Redcliffe and Temple BID - Green Infrastructure Action Plan

"Developing the city’s green spaces is a focus for Redcliffe & Temple BID and this GIAP is a key step in creating quality green spaces, improving sustainability in the city, and building a safe community. The insight and involvement from local businesses have been invaluable and we want to encourage participation and support as the projects roll out over the coming months and years..”

Redcliffe and Temple BID - Green Infrastructure Action Plan

Redcliffe and Temple BID's ambition is to improve and contribute to creating a sustainable and thriving area in Bristol.

The BID approached Landsmith Associates with a brief to focus on action and 'do' things rather than generate map-based proposals and strategies, a more 'bottom-up' process.

Working with the BID, we researched an outline desktop study within the BID area and beyond(including various policies, case studies and guidance) and filtered it to select four key themes: Cities in Nature, Cooling Cities, Creating Social Spaces and Designing Spaces with Women.

We designed, prepared and led a bespoke process that maximises stakeholder engagement (depth and breadth).  As the majority of participatory exercises were during the pandemic, we held interactive workshops, exploratory walks and an online survey.  All were open to the public as well as invited individuals. Over 60 people attended the various engagement sessions.

The engagement outcomes helped define and cocreate short, medium and long-term actions and proposals.  We curated a pragmatic decision-making process linked to six key questions.

Before the GIAP was published, the client felt confident to start to act on six of the many outcomes and had started to put in place mechanisms to progress other actions.
